Centers for Oceans and Human Health
NSF/NIEHS Centers for Oceans and Human Health
The National Institute of Environmental Health and the National Science Foundation funded six Centers for Oceans and Human Health. Initiated in 2024, these centers seek to provide linkages between members of the ocean sciences and biomedical communities through the support of interdisciplinary research in areas where improved understanding of marine processes and systems has potential to reduce public health risks. The six Centers include:
- Woods Hole Center for Oceans and Human Health
- North Carolina Center for Coastal Algae, People, and Environment (NC C-CAPE)
- Scripps Center for Oceans and Human Health: Advancing the Science of Marine Contaminants and Seafood Safety
- Knowledge Warding Against Toxin Levels Center for Oceans and Human Health
- Lake Ontario Center for Microplastics and Human Health in a Changing Environment
- Great Lakes Center for Fresh Waters and Human Health
